I just dream and feel; in those dreams I explore alternate spaces and ideologies for and of my community. It’s an emotional conversation for me and about dealing with issues, rather than sweeping them under the carpet. This is how Adebayo Oke Lawal described his new collection last night; and dreamy is exactly what the collection was, the emotion in this collection was evident in the detail: from the hand detailed armored vests made in Rwanda, the use of colour and proportion in the matching coords, the vibrant wigs and chandelier hats. There’s no better place to see all of those details than backstage photos, revealing zoomed-in views of the over the top beauty looks and accessories, candid model moments pre-runway and more.
